The general consensus on /trp/ is that if a girl has a BB boyfriend she will lose interest and either break up with him or cheat on him. I understand the sentiment, and I agree to a very high degree. Obviously, without a spine you are not desirable to a woman.
Let's talk texting and dreadgame; 99% of the women in the world will receive more attention without trying than any male on this forum. The beta boys lust after her, and whether she is aware or unaware, she loves it. As a male you need to make yourself interesting to a woman, you need her to invest in you. This post is a question regarding girls you don't see often, so texting becomes the primary source of interaction.
The advice that /trp/ gives when it comes to texting is that you should only text to talk logistics, nothing else. I personally never initiate texts for anything other than logistics. But what if girls do? Do you allow them to slowly lure you into their trap, where they use you as an emotional tampon, do you say "K" or do you just answer without a followup question, instead of letting the conversation flow naturally?
I've been trying to find the balance between dreadgame, allowing yourself to open a bit towards girls, and not come off as a complete asshole. That is to say, I had 3 plates last year. An ex-girlfriend and two girls from my University. With 2 I genuinely didn't care and I just wanted to fuck them (my peers), so I was the epitome of logistics-only texting. Didn't give a shit about anything else. It went well for 2 months and then both contacts died down, and I didn't really care. This is the average life-expectancy before a plate breaks anyway, I figured.
With my ex-girlfriend however, we do other stuff together as well. We see each other when we can, sometimes once per three weeks, sometimes three times per week. I've been catching a bit of oneitis for her (we dated for 3 years before we broke it off) so I have been trying to distance myself from her. Problem is, we used to text 24/7, literally about anything. She kinda killed that by making it clear she didn't want a relationship. Sometimes she doesn't text for 6 hours, but she always texts a 'good morning', 'good night', 'how was your day?'. Since I can't be asked to wait for a reply for 6 hours, not knowing what she's doing, I get on with my day and just forget about it. Then after 6 hours she texts me that she was with friends and keeps on asking stuff about my day, how I'm doing, sends cute pictures, not really helping me get over the oneitis.
Generally with a plate I'd be cold and distant, and with her I've been trying it too for the past few weeks (especially hard since it's Christmas/NYE). It's nice to have someone to talk with 24/7, even though she currently has the most control over when we text, since she has the most abundance (I understand how it's a bad thing in this situation, I won't suddenly go no-contact to cure my oneitis though).
This has been a bit of a clusterfuckpost, so to end it with a question:
Tl;dr logistic-texting plates is fine, but since my ex-gf and I don't see each other often sometimes, and she sometimes wants to have long text conversations, do I just keep on doing what I've been doing for the past three years and have fun texting with her (enjoying myself as well, until she suddenly leaves for 6h), or do I keep up with the short replies and risk our relationship and friendship ending like it did with my other 2 plates, slowly dieing because the 'interesting dread game' slowly transferred into me being uninteresting.
And if the latter (keep up with short replies), what is the golden balance between her losing interest like my other 2 plates did after 1.5 months, and her staying interested.
