Do you text first after a while, or do you let her text you first?

When my girlfriend goes out , I normally tell her “I’ll text you later.” I do that because to me it’s like she has to wait for me to get my attention, instead of me waiting for her to get back to me. But then I thought that it’s kinda weird because I always initiate the conversation when she gets home or whatever. Do I tell her to text ME later? Or does this shit really not matter
