Meet her somewhere. Either show up early and be having a good time already by the time she arrives, or show up fashionably late. Pick one. Do not pick her up or drive her anywhere unless its back to your place to fuck.

I drive a manual (not so common in the US) so I was thinking that'd be something of a talking point.

The less you say the better. You don't want to talk. This applies for the entire "date", if you want to call it that. The 2/3 rule applies on dates and in person, too. I'd actually say for a first date it should be closer to a 1/2 rule than 2/3.

Depending on how close they are to you, I usually like picking them up.

But for lunch on a first date during the week, yea, its better to just meet her wherever. The car you're driving is no issue. Hell it may work in your favor because you drive a manual.

Don't do lunch dates. It's hard to kino someone across a table, and platonic like a coffee date, especially since the sun is still up.

Do dates after 7pm (around then). This is good because it builds anticipation throughout the day, and by the end of your activity (I'm huge on bowling, with heavy kino in between frames when you're both sitting down) you can offer them a drive home (if you picked them up) and go park somewhere to make out - which almost always leads to a blow job if you play your game right.
