To give a little background information, I am currently a first year university student who is living in dorms. I have been part of a group of friends who, for a while, seemed to work together well and get along well. It was clear that I was viewed as higher status among them (only non-virgin, goes to the gym and has decent body, more social skills, good at meeting people and being charismatic), and they respected me and constantly would hit me up for advice or for activities or even just to talk. Just recently, however, one of my closer friends in the group had begun to distance himself from me: ignoring me more and disrespecting me. Gradually, because of this, I withdrew a lot of the attention I was investing in the group, and now the dynamic has greatly changed. What exactly happened that could have caused this? The people in the group used to message me when I wasnt there, and the one closer friend would also message me nearly everyday and never ignore me. I was clearly respected and liked. What's going on now? I know I havent been too needy or done any weird shit.... Is it crabs in a bucket?

I understand the best course of action is to find another friend group (which I have been working on btw), but that takes time, and I'm not too willing to not have a group of friends in uni (I have many acquaintances and some other random friends, but I'm not part of their other groups).
