Aa far as being happy, a general state I remain in is like a "whatever/content" mood-- lukewarm happy in which I am just present in the moment in a good way; I'm not sad but I don't have euphoric feeling in regards to my happiness/state of being
Whenever I get a good grade on a test, a text back from a girl I'm interested in, or see something that is touching to me in which I get a deep appreciation for life such as hearing about people who have overcome something serious, the emotions I get from such acts is euphoric-- not so much for the girl texting back, but when I improve on myself + when something touches me, I have an urge to just go out and do things; I want to smile, I want to speak to a lot of people, etc.
I understand that my value is not within these things as my value comes from within, but for some reason I can't reach that level of mental clarity/mental high most times without something good going my way such as getting a good grade on a test or when I'm out doing something I love/want to do
Why is it that when I hear that ping of a message notification ring off from a girl I get a boost of happiness? I immediately remind myself that I am just as good with or without the person texting back or even with a grade; even if I was to get a bad grade, that doesn't make me no less-- despite me acknowledging this, why can't I live this at all times?
Is it natural as these things are just forms of dopamine rushes? With the girl, I believe a fix to that is to develop more abundance as I will then get used to people rejecting and responding to me, but with everything else, how can I remain at an euphoric state without those dopamine hits in the form of reward? Is it possible to remain at that high?
Also, when at times when I do realize that the validation of an external source doesn't make me no better nor worse, I am taken down from that high of accomplishment.
For example, today I took my second math test in which I received an A on it. The first test I took, I also received an A in which I was super happy for the rest of the day (maybe weekend I believe). Today however, once I saw my grade, I was happy but then I would remind myself that this does not define me as a person; I patted myself on the back for my accomplishment, but I wasn't super excited as I was from the first test. --- Is it best to just remain in such a lukewarm state as the highs wont be too high and the lows wont be too low if I remain grounded?
