I work in body modification, and one thing I have never been able to wrap my head around is the fact that trends exist. I've never been particularly fashionable or stylish, and I've absolutely never paid attention to trends or what people wear, but in my line of work over the years I've watched several trends come and go. And seeing as like 95% of my client base is women and girls, I get to see the trend tying up close. Say, nose piercings are "in" or whatever, I'll pierce a hundred noses in a week. But they all want it to be the exact same. Showing me the exact same picture they found online. Same goes for tattoos actually, I'm sure we all know that. Your average "basic white girl" tattoos, they they are fully aware of when they walk in and say "I knooow its basic." Can somebody explain this to me? I can't imagine bringing a picture to somebody and saying "make me look like this person!"
