Last saturday I met up with a friend and his buddy (all 24yo, and friend and buddy is how I'll refer to them) and we had a few drinks. The friend was chatting up (via text) a chick (27) he met on an app and arranged for us to meet up with her and two of her friends (also 27). We went to a bar they were in around 12. It was a pretty loud place with a dance floor, but we sat next to a table where they were and stayed there until closing (4 am). The chick were: the one friend was chatting up was a bit (I'm not underrepresenting it, it was a bit) on the chubby side (I'd rate her a 5, maybe 6 if I was generous) and her friends were okay (6 and 7). We had various topics, movies, celebs (I fully expected one of them to say she screwed a celeb) and such but buddy was very good in the conversation ("now we'll talk about how you got screwed over by a dude/chick, starting YOU" - points to a chick) and kept it going in a desirable direction.

We didn't know where else to go that was open (actually, we did, but said we didn't) and didn't charge an outrageous entry fee (most places in town are free until 1 am but charge enterance after that) so buddy said we could go to his place for drinks and they agreed. I stuffed 6 people into my car that has a licence for 5 (a very big fine if we ran into cops) and I decided not to go 3 neighboorhoods away to get drinks to that one store we knew was open. In hindsight I should have told buddy to walk and tidy up the place before we got there and went for the drinks and there would have been fewer problems. On the other hand I just met the guy and didn't know where his place was (10 minutes walking).

We got to buddy's place which was a very small apartment (basically a bedroom/living room with a bathroom and a kitchen) and the bed wasn't made and his shit (figuratively) was on the floor. The chicks went in and all sat on and around the armchair in the corner and things got kinda awkward. We talked about various things while we messaged each other on the topic of who should do what and who has a shot with which chick.

After an agonizing 3 hours of conversation interrupted by an occasional awkward silence the 6 said she has to go catch the next tram and we all went home.

Anyway, the question is what would have been a good move when they grouped up and sat in the corner? I think we should have had some drinks to get them to the dining table and work from there, but this wasn't an option since all we had was tap water. As we were leaving I said we should exchange numbers and they said they'll be in touch through the friend's chick and I thought that would be the end of it but it turns out the 7 liked me and they all want to meet up again.

Also, any recommendations on where to take them? When we discussed we thought it would be best to take them to a bar near a cheap hotel, that way the option is always there but we aren't in a position where we ask them to go to a hotel, on the other hand it might be better to ask them to go for drinks in a hotel bar and see what they respond. When friend spoke to his chick she said they liked us and want to meet up again next week and from what he relayed I have a shot at 7. On one hand that's good, on the other I'm kinda shaken because after a run of success I didn't manage to close with a 27 year old who never had a boyfriend in her life and rode and is still riding the CC.
