I haven't used Facebook. I run a tight ship friends wise. So I never cared about other people's drama.

So far I have had no problems, but I am nearing the end of my university career and I feel like not getting FB now is going to hurt both my social life and career prospects. I will lose out on a lot of opportunities by not networking with others. So I want to get in on it. I have a few questions.

  1. Is it worth it?

  2. How do I use it to build social proof?

  3. I do not plan on putting any pictures, likes, probably very few posts. Is it even worth it in that case?

  4. How does FB and real life interact? If I see a person once, should I add him/her? What if I see the person twice? Or should I not add randomly, and instead say something like "add me on facebook" or "i'll add you on facebook". Basically - how long does an interaction have to be before it is socially acceptable to add them on Facebook?

  5. Is it weird if I have my timeline set to 'approved posts only'? I feel like a lot of stuff I don't want on my timeline will be posted.
