I play competitive badminton, and I noticed that many of the games I lose, I lose because I lack aggression. During rallies, I’m much more prone to hit softer shots that continue the rally rather than ending it (ie. with a smash) when I have the opportunity. As a result, I end up working a lot harder than I need too during games and the fatigue builds up over the course of a tournament.

Upon reflecting on how I can fix this, I recognized that my non-aggressive play style is very much representative of my life overall. I’m naturally a very passive person, and as a result I lack aggression in my life. I put up with people’s shit and I don’t really take a stand unless I feel it’s necessary. I think this is largely because I generally don't care about anything. It’s something I feel needs to change, but I’m not sure how.

Any ideas on how I can change my default setting to assertive rather than passive?

Edit: changed stoic to passive
