I have to take a personality survey for a class. Some questions are like "when solving a problem you prefer the rational approach" or "when making a decision you rely more on feelings than analysis of the situation."

I've been seeing stuff like this for years and I just don't understand it. When is emotional thinking ever better than being rational? What benefit is there? Why would anyone choose not to be rational or to admit that they're decisions are rational? Doesn't that just make a crazy person? Why?
