Full immersion is the best method. Once you have basic conversational, put yourself in places where you will have to speak the language.

I recommend the Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice (there are other languages in that series) as a textbook. Read the whole book and do the exercises. They come with digital flash cards too for vocab expansion. I also have foreign language news apps like BBC Mundo. You can read the articles and get the gist because the topics are current events. I also read classic literature in the original language. Have the google translate app handy too for when you need to know one word or construction but don’t let it become a crutch. You can also listen to foreign language podcasts and news broadcasts to hear the accent and cadence.

Most of that is free, the textbook is like $13. But there is NO replacement for actually conversing with a native speaker. I seek out Spanish speaking women on Tinder and demand that they speak Spanish with me so I can practice. It’s also sexy so bonus. I also pick travel destinations that speak the language I want to practice.

Make no mistake: this is very hard work. It is harder than lifting. A lot harder.

I speak 6 languages , 3 of which i taught myself.

Dont be lazy, firstly - you can find easy to use guides and resources online. Luca lampariello and steve kauffman (maybe benny lewis too) are all great.

Constantly practice the language and youll get better. Its simple, theres no special trick to it.

It definitely raises your smv but probably not as much as you think it does.
