well, i think you need to provide more context. if my LTR said to me, "can you tell me honestly if you care about my feelings, or not?" and she was being dead serious / I know she could be feeling neglected. I would take this question v serious and give it the attention it deserved.

if she's just validation seeking, i think your answer is fine. if this is over text, i'd go with your answer and avoid further discussion unless in person?
