I play acoustic guitar and sing very well (apparently), and girls often show interest when I play: they come and sit by, ask me about the songs I'm playing, all that stuff.
The thing is, I play very "Beta" music. I hate calling things "Alpha" and "Beta", but the most accurate and clear description of songs I play is Beta. My favourite performer is Elliott Smith, check him out if you wanna see what I'm talking about, so I play his music almost exclusively.
Now, no one gives a shit (including me) about what other people listen to personally, but playing is a whole different story.
Does "soft" music I play make me look weak, insecure, depressed (it's pretty much all about depression, drugs, suicide)? I always act confidently, take charge in most things, dominance comes to me rather naturally, I almost never bitch or complain, but for some strange reason Elliott Smith fulfils my soul. I frankly can't stand indie music, except his, and I feel like my impression on some people I meet through playing music could be very misleading: of a submissive, weak individual.
