University senior here probably graduating in May with a finance degree (top 40 US school) in May. I was at a recruiting event on zoom yesterday and the guy running it basically told me that as a finance major with no internships (was supposed to have one last summer but COVID) that I should go into something else, he recommended sales for instance.

Now I'm pretty sure that he was just telling me this so that he can fill up his sales team, but I'm wondering what advice those of you in the industry have. I have been sending in loads of applications, have a decent GPA (3.55), and am in finance related volunteering and clubs, I just haven't had an internship. Will this be something that stops employers for hiring me for an internship/full time in Finance?
