I started this job around 7 months ago. I got a raise after my probation was over and have been assigned a lot of new responsibilities. My job has an open door policy with management so any grievances or topics of discussion are addressed pretty easily. They've always made me feel as if any concerns of mine were valid and that they would take on ideas or suggestions that I have. Or so I thought.

I recently found out that a co-worker of mine is leaving for a newer, higher paying opportunity. She was hired a little after myself and was technically lower in authority then I was. I tend to keep a good rapport with all my co-workers so they consider me as a friend and confide in me. It so happened that during one of our discussions, I found out that she was being paid more than me.

Objectively speaking I do more than her, have higher sales numbers, provide more marketing ideas and not to mention, have seniority over her. Why they would pay her more than me is something I do not understand. Especially considering that they have made promises about moving me up to a management position in future.

Given this information, I'm now viewing all their promises to me as complete bullshit. I've started looking at other opportunities in this field (I really enjoy it and see a lot of growth potential), and am considering leaving the company myself. Before I do though, I want to have a sit down and present them with my concerns. I feel seriously let down by their behavior and want to know why they did what they did before I leave (thinking of calling a last meeting between myself and management once I have a good option lined up). Is this a good move?
