Observations made once I started running a business, and important things to remember in order to keep it running great. Input/Advice for further improvement requested.
Good evening fellow users. I'll keep this post short and get right to the point. So here you go:
I've made my fair share of observations these 2 weeks I've been back in town from attending college exams, 2 months since I transfered my father's business to my own name so now it's basically me running things. Ever since, I have seen my business blossom quickly and heck even going into an increased amount of income coming every day, I will explain why I think this is happening in the meantime and 'how' it worked for me.
I live in a pretty small town, 25k population, I'm 23 years old so you can guess everyone here between 18-30 know each other. I own a photography shop, printing photos for driver's licenses, Identities and all other stuff daily and arranging marriage jobs for the big payroll.
I'll cut to the point:
- Be social. This refers to the sidebar rule, be social, get into a habit of talking to everybody and be-friend people who seem to like you. There will always be competition, and people who hate on you for being better, be indifferent and neautral/apathetic to this specific group. Smile often.
- Wake up early. This is the fundamental of perfecting your skills and your business matters. Legends wake up early, don't wake up in the mid-day and most important don't procrastinate/stop avoiding tasks needed to be done.
- Be responsible. This speaks on it's own, you have to plant the seeds of trust in your clients and not only, so that you ensure first that the job is done correctly by being responsible, and second to reassure them that they're in good hands.
- Crush the competition. This could go in line with rule 15, crush your enemy totally. Assuming you already know how, don't fuck up being aggressive towards competition and other shopkeepers/businessmen who might have negative feelings for you/hate you. Of course I have competitors, and they all are running to put me down all these years by lieing to customers and hatespeaking against us, and many other means. Don't let them recover, EVER. This is my chance to triumph, so instead of sinking in my vain glory and humble bragging of "how I made it" I am taking time to perfect my business and make my offerings to society superior, more quality than my competitors already do.
- Be someone. This means get a name for yourself, get known, be popular. I noticed that last but not least once I transfered the whole business to my name people heard about it, they come often and ask me if it's me running things now and ever since customers keep coming and making me income.
- Invest in your business, slowly but steadily. Invest a thing today, another one tomorrow. Make your own living look pretty and attractive. This is not as important but still, it is necessary to build it through time, in case you can't/don't have the financial opportunity to look up to it right now. Keep this in track.
These are some of the observations I made, I am fairly new even though I have been working the job with my father for years, now is the time to truly go up the ladder and succeed. And remember learn to love what you do, otherwise it might not work as efficiently. Have a goal, a mission, a passion. Make it so that you enjoy working and improve your work ethic.
This is not exactly a question, and I wanted to post this on TRP but this is a throwaway account, and my other account has been suspended by reddit. But, Any other observations/corrections made by users etc. I will be glad to discuss and I want your thoughts on this, literally any extra advice would help me better and improve.
- 🌹 Jack.
