This issue is bound to come up again for me, so I'm looking for advice. I'm 39, don't want kids.

I do a meet and greet with this girl(31) for coffee, she's immediately into me. Talk for about an hour, I like her and we hit it off. She's asks about children and I say I don't like kids. For the first date I invite her to my place for dinner and then to go out to a local event. My place is nice and I cook well so she is even more into me. Lots of kino then kissing before we go out. Things went better than expected while out and had a better time than I had planned for. I got a lot of resistance from any escalation past kissing and kept backing off. She went home.

2nd date I invite her back to watch a movie. I escalate hard the whole time, tons of ASD(only known you a couple days, etc) I can tell she wants to but the ASD is holding her back. I was really enjoying watching her squirm and we already had plans to go to her place in 2 days so I didn't push it.

Now at her place, we chat for awhile about travel and work. She gets up and sits down on the other couch to do her ecig then she asks about children. I say no, I don't want children. She says she does, finishes with her ecig and comes back over. I pull her close and start escalating, she says she really wants to, maybe this weekend, it's only been a week, hamster wheel starts turning, then tells me she's been with guys on the first date and got hurt and brings up that I don't want children. She goes to the other couch. A little back and forth and then I just ask her if she's going to be able to handle me not wanting children. She's "wow you are very straight forward", she says if you are making me decide now then no. Took a minute and said goodbye and left.

I feel like I played the dates really well. I probably could have escalated faster but it seemed like it was going to happen so I wan't rushing. I will admit that I had premature thoughts of gf'ing her but she really didn't have too many red flags(tattoo's and cigs and she's 31). I'm working hard on myself and getting better by the minute so I'll learn and move on. Just typing this out helps. Your thoughts?
