Attorney in CA here. Done tons of prenups. I tell the dudes to just say it's family pressure.

Only have one case where the prenup was an issue. In my experience if a prenup is a deal breaker and the wedding's off, you've just saved each other a lot of time and money because if it wasn't the prenup it would have been something else.

this is like legally binding someone not to stab you. what could she logically say?

"omg you know i would never stab you, i'm not signing that shit though (because i might want to stab you some day)"

why would you want that kind of person in your life? if the government is going to get involved in your relationship (marriage), you may as well use them to hold her ass accountable too, because they'll drag you over the coals in a heartbeat

And then you get married in CALIFORNIA of all places, the worst possible state to get divorced in. Also, you can get married elsewhere, if she files in California bc one of you lives there, California state law applies.

I know you feel like you have to now, and the momentum is already rolling and you'll buckle under peer pressure. But please don't feel like you have to get married to have kids. Even if she's the most wonderful woman in the world and you're madly in love. one or two decades later, everything will have changed.

We don't need prenups, we need equal justice, equal assumptions of personal responsibility.

It is not going to happen. You get a prenup or any other piece of paper, it can be tossed out under any judge's whim at any reason in any state that is friendly to the complainant.

In other words, it's worthless, marriage is not worth it. You want to gamble with everything you own, go ahead. You want to run a 50-50 chance of screwing your future (some would say even higher). go ahead.

Read /r/deadbedrooms, google divorce horrors, then say to me that would never happen to you and give me $100,000 which I will payback with interest when you've reached your happy 50th wedding anniversary. and I mean HAPPY 50th anniversary.

Doesn't matter - a judge can over-turn any pre-nup. May as well not have one, which means for a man the smart choice is DO NOT MARRY and especially DO NOT MARRY in California.
