A lot of my old friends I've reconnected with are very emotionally needy. Which makes sense, because when I met them I was an emo parasite who thought close attachments were like that, I used to bitch and whine a ton.
These people are the ones who most value my progress in life, and want good things for me, but I also feel their 'neediness' and it is really disgusting me because I hate neediness in myself. I don't like the level of connection they ask for, like phone calls every week, always asking me to hang out, etc. and a lot of them are very approval seeking/not assertive.
Some of them have genuine reasons for why they are that way but I just realised that my own attachment style is like that, and I figured it was because you become the average of the 5 people you hang out with the most, if not something similar.
I don't like being needy, and I don't like having super-attached-at-the-hip friends, either.
Flip side is that these guys gave a damn about me when no one else did. I feel terrible about how I'm viewing them now that I know better.

Give me some perspective, I'm a little frustrated right now and very confused.
