I am starting out in a relationship where I received very little respect. I was beta and I am transitioning to a more stable position and I would like help.

I am in a LTR. I have been a doormat for about two years in my 6 year relationship. We still have sex regularly, kiss, go on dates, and spend time apart, but I became a yes man. I would be the one doing the cleaning and staying in with the kids, while she was out with friends and became lazy otherwise. She is regularly upset about something, but it isn't constant. We have fun together. I believe this is early enough to change my footing.

I have been stepping my foot down and saying no to the majority of tasks asked of me. She stopped talking back to me and I have gotten more respect. I have been working out and meeting people. In the last week I have met 4 women which I could progress with, but have chosen to only tease and flirt.

This change is clearly upsetting balance and pushing my SO away.

My Question: In what ways can I set boundaries and consequences in a LTR?

Example: I recently found out that she has been kissing one of her friends fairly consistently. I told her I did not want her hanging out with him anymore. I was not emotional, did not fight, and remained clear to the point. She did not complain.

I believe that she is going to hang out with him tonight. I am not worried either way, as I will kick her out and lock the door if it is needed.

How would I set boundaries and appropriate consequences for situations like this behavior or her cleaning?
