I've recently joined a new social circle, a medieval reenactment group. It's fun and all, I've always liked these kind of things.

I do my job just fine, but I'm mostly silent with the others when around. I don't talk much. That's because, I've got clumsy social skills. Many cringy phrases have come out my mouth during my lifetime, that's why I'd rather be silent. Especially around girls. I'm not afraid of hitting on a girl that I barely know, or a girl that I know I'll probably never see again. (when I go to a big city or out of my crappy town) That's when I wouldn't care if she would see me as a creep. But since I see these people at least a couple of times/week, I'd rather be silent, than saying stupid shit and rendering me as a creep. They probably see me as a creepy guy anyway.. I'm the eldest there (27) and the most unexperienced, since I'm new there. Most of them are 16-24.

Whenever we finish a scenario, if i got nothing smart or funny on my mind to say, I just go back practicing my sword moves, to avoid cringeworthy conversations. So I don't talk much.

I also tend to overthink about how others see me. Picking up social cues, I'm somewhere in the middle, not creepy, not awesome, maybe a bit on the low side. Some years ago I wouldn't give a fuck about what others think, carelessly doing my own stuff my own way, and that only brought a creep projection of me around others. "Who? Bluepillking? Oh that weirdo.." So, is being silent a good way to avoid being even creepier?
