I keep getting hot and cold advice from the CScareerquestions sub.

For the developers and software engineers on here, I did not major in computer science in college and was thinking of going back for a second bachelors degree in it. Thing is, I hear of liberal arts and chemistry majors getting jobs in the field through bootcamps and building portfolios. I came to this sub because I happened to like a lot of the career advice given on here so I thought I'd reach out to you guys.

I am deciding between going back for a second bachelors (which means 2 years of my life gone without pay and I will be in debt, something I avoided in my first bachelors degree) or going to a bootcamp. Currently I have been learning how to code and building my portfolio.

Recently I've heard how in the coming decade, a degree might be necessary to even be looked at in this field and it will be like accounting or nursing to where you have to have a degree to even be considered. Seems like the people that broke into it and are doing well now managed to do it while standards were more relaxed. Not sure how the future is going to be like in the field in this regard.

Any advice for a guy in my situation?

Also, is the demand and job growth in this field going to be strong in the coming decade?
