I am disciplined, but not motivated and I haven't been for a couple of years.

I go to the gym 1-2 hours a day 5-6 days a week, I look good. I have several plates.

The dilemma is I am completely unmotivated in my field of work (tech). I show up and do the bare minimum to not have eyes on me. When I'm at work I'm bored out of my mind. I am going to school for my degree after work but again, minimum effort because I am bored.

I was recently passed up for a promotion that would have doubled my pay because I have not been improving. My managers are disappointed, and although I'm kicking myself at the same time I don't really care.

The work doesn't excite me, but to be honest nothing really excites me. I just kind of find ways to pass time and I've been doing it for years. Now I'm wondering if I'm even in the right field. I work with guys who literally get BONERS when its time to spend 3 hours alone in their chair writing a script, which is awesome for them, but makes me want to blow my brains out.

How do you know when youre in the wrong field vs. when you just aren't excited or motivated by anything at all?
