Girls always tell me, "you could do better" "you could have any girl" but idk why cause I haven't been able to so far. A few times, I've assumed that the girl saying this has a crush on me, but when I pursue it never works out. Has this happened to anyone else and what do I have to change. I think I just have a self esteem/confidence problem but idk.

Edit: so there are 2 main points in my life that stood out to me of a girl telling me I could have any girl: When I was 17 working at a place where a lot of teenagers work. There was this girl who we'll call Sara who would chill with me after work while she was waiting for her sister to pick her up. I was trynna fuck but she said she only fucks her boyfriends so I said "let me be your boyfriend then" (haha)... so me and Sara were a "couple" then the next day we fucked. Word got out that me and Sara were together and this other girl that I worked with, who we'll call Ana brought it up when we were alone together and told me that I could do much better than Sara, I figured she was trying to say she wanted me so I tried flirting with her, but I was shut down very quickly.

The other time was about an hour ago where this plate that Ive been fucking for way too long drunk texted me her feelings and why she likes hanging out with me. In the text she said "You could get any girl but for some reason you want to hang out with me"

Usually when I end up not pursuing a girl and "friend-zoning" them (usually because of logistics reasons) they talk about their man problems and I get a good laugh out of it and then I talk about my girl problems, but they usually say something like "I can tell you're a player" or something like that. So that's why I dont understand because Im usually not told this as a rejection, they just say it.

My hypothesis is that my first impression is amazing but I end up not living up to the hype for some reason or another
