Hi, so I ended a long term relationship(6 years) back in 02/14 and to go a little in-depth, I am/was out of shape(working on it) after that relationship. A month later I felt like approaching the ladies again and when I started thinking about it, I was terrified, how do I even begin...      Anyways, I ended up going back to the gym getting a little confidence back and I started talking to a girl for a week or two before we decided to go out for coffee at night, I went to pick her up and we had a fun time and when I went to drop her off we talked a bit more and maybe I tried to overcompensate but I went in for a small kiss session and it seemed fine. I didn't hear back from her again and she avoided my texts, etc... I thought back on the things I probably shouldn't have done and learned somewhat from it.

     Now, I have a new situation, I started summer classes about 3 weeks ago and on the third day a really gorgeous, smoking hot chick sits next to me(I am 23 and she is 21). The class is actually a computer lab(for Computer Science) so I saw her struggling with codes and I asked,"Do you need some help?" Thats when it all started. I consider myself the alpha male in the class because I already know most of the things so I act confident and I am the only guy/person she speaks to in class. We flirt in a subtle ways(at least I think she is sometimes). Sometimes she wears some damn sexy short shorts, sometimes perfume; I don't know if these are signs, but I considered them as so. Last week I felt it was appropriate to ask for her number and so she gave it to me. The next day I asked her after class if she would like to "go out with me"(as in a date) and she agreed and even asked me if Friday was fine and I agreed it was.

     Comes Friday and I text her a couple times and I ask her," Should I pick you up at 8:30?" No response for a while until about 3 hours before the date and she said,"Sorry, I went to pick up my parents out of town(to a city across the border, I live in South Texas). After she said that I assumed it was a lame excuse to not go out and I responded with a simple," ok, no problem" as if I didn't give a fuck.

      At that point I assumed she wasn't interested and it was over and whatnot but at around 8:30 she texted me back,"My name! I won't be able to make it today, I had a problem and I couldn't tell you earlier because I had no service! I feel ashamed, can we leave it for another day?" To which I responded," don't worry, how about next week?""Yes, that would be better :)" she replied.

     So I have no way to verify if her parents actually surprised her or what her "problem" was, but I would like for the community to help me and inform on the best course of action after this incident. Should I show less interest in her during class?Should I stop helping her?(she is always asking me how to do shit) Let her make a couple of moves? Let her bring up the day of the rescheduled date? We always walk together to the parking lot after class too. I just read a book on body language as well and I feel I can start to understand her body movements. Also, I don't really text much with her or with anyone, I prefer to talk to her in person if possible. This is my first post on seddit or reddit for that matter, I did read a couple of the side bar links, but if I posted something wrong I apologize in advance. Thanks for your time guys/girls!
