I love it - both for creating memories and making good decisions in life. While taking steps to improve my life now may not have an initial payoff (i.e. eating right, going to the gym, working late occasionally to further my career, ect...) over time these decisions help me to further develop into the person that I want to be.

That being said... don't let thinking about the future prevent you from enjoying the moment. That part is important too. :)
