It speeds up the process of you getting better. You wont make mistakes that other guys made in the past. You learn from other peoples faliures not yours.

That's all well and good, but don't you think that failure and rejection are also important in their own way ? Those guys went through dozens of rejections before they became "naturals".
Not trying to argue anything lol, just simple curiosity. "On your feet" thinking is different to reading theory from books. Lots of people read a lot but still fail miserably.

Even if you read all the books, you will still get rejected sometimes, and lets be honest most of the time if you dont have much personal experience. But if you dont read them you might not realise what the problem is/was. And you might the not fix the mistakes you made.
