Im working through the high school books i was forced to read and didnt like but find interesting now. Im going through 1984 which is Scifi but really any will do.

Start by being a good listener! It's such a simple thing but really precious. You begin with adding your commentary to what others are saying, progress to advising people and in no time you know what to say. Also, try relating/empathising with whoever you're talking to. That helps a lot. And most importantly, let the people you're close to and whose conversation skills you admire know that you need help with this and make it a point to converse with them.

When you don’t know what to say or worry that you’re saying the wrong things- ask questions. Most people like to talk about themselves and appreciate it when someone takes an interest. Ask a question, then comment on the answer they give- or ask a follow up question.
