A large part of this is she was crying trying to resolve an issue with her life, and not just crying and not telling you.

It seems to me like she felt defeated and wanted to talk to somebody anybody and console in someone. Sounds like she wanted advice.

If a girl is crying because of something you did, apologize.

If she is crying because she is going through some weird emotional shit that has nothing to do with you, get the fuck of there. YOu're not a therapist and nothing you say to her is going to help her.

Has anyone been gaming a girl and had her start crying?

I had this weird experience last night where I was running really good game on this girl....... she left the party and came back a while later crying.

She sat next to me and said she wasn't sure she wanted to stay with her boyfriend anymore.

I assumed this was partly a result of the attraction she was feeling with me.....

Look, this situation is not really about you.

Seduction is a two-way street, a team sport. It's not something that is unilaterally done to a person.

If a girl is in good with her BF, then she won't play with you.

What almost certainly happened was that this girl's relationship was already in trouble and then you came along offering fun.

She opened up to you, even a little, and then got upset because she was forced to face the possible end and loss of her relationship. Relationships are usually not all bad or all good. So such matters are usually complicated.

Look, you might be able to get in there, but it would be emotionally complicated. Especially if she opened up to you so fast, you're in for a mess possibly, if you get involved.

I don't mean this post to sound exploitative, because I decided not to keep pursuing because I'd feel guilty if I was the thing that broke her and her boyfriend up (they lived together and had been dating for 5 years).

And you actually sound like the opposite of exploitative. You didn't take advantage.

Though let's be real here: you wouldn't have been the cause of her relationship ending. It's probably going to end from the sound of things. But make no mistake, that would be her decision. Not yours.
