Im 26m, she is 23f. Been seeing this girl for just over three months. She's fresh out of a 5 year relationship, her only one ever.

I have given her a lot of space and focused on not being needy so she would feel like she had some time to recover and have fun.

Things between us over the last month, to me, feel like they have gotten pretty serious. We hang out 2-3 times a week. Very affectionate, lots of touching. Feels mostly like a standard relationship at this point.

Anyway, I guess I have misread things some. A mutual friend (girl) talked to her last night, and when asked what was up between us, she said, "I don't know. I really like him and have a lot of fun with him, but I think jumping into a relationship right now would be stupid. I just want to keep things light. Maybe I should make that more clear."

I have been way, way to available nearly this entire time, and she has never had to worry about losing me really. I want to start distancing myself.

I plan on: Longer text delays some of the time Occasionally canceling plans (which I've never done) Being more busy in general, hanging out with other girls more and making sure she finds out Initiating affection/touching much, much less. (I'm really touchy so this will be clear)

What else can I do? What else should I do? I know this girl does like me a lot, I just think that she has no enticement to let things get more serious because I've made it so easy on her this whole time.

TL;dr: seeing girl for 3 months, thought we were pretty much in a relationship, was wrong
