Complete beginner here.
Been reading this reddit for a while now, yet I've always had trouble with starting and keeping a meaningful conversation with complete strangers (not just chicks). By problem, I mean that I either notice someone interesting and don't even approach due to thinking I don't have anything to talk to them about, or I man the fuck up and approach, yet I end up defaulting to boring conversation (school, etc.)
So, I have a brief story here for all the people in the same situation.
Today, I was just chilling in line at Starbucks when I noticed a HB 7.5 right behind me in line. She looks approachable, yet I don't really know how to open. I look around a bit and notice some guy doing some Criss Angel-looking shit to a girl (palm reading or something with a lot of hand movement...wut) in the corner of the Starbucks. Obviously I'm confused as fuck, then I turn around to see the chick also gaping at them. Then, at that moment, something clicked and I managed to blurt out something along the lines of "I can't be the only one wondering what the hell is going on over there". Lo and behold, SHE RESPONDS and we have have a memorable conversation.
After this, I'm feeling like a boss.
Later in the day, I'm walking through the campus library and I notice another HB7.5 playing "Draw Something". Using that as an opener, I approach her and end up making conversation, adding her on FB and playing quite a few rounds of the game.
Basically, don't be afraid to approach people just because you might not have anything to talk about. Just scope out the area for anything interesting, unusual, or anything you feel comfortable with and you'll do fine.
I know this post may seem rather elementary but I know that people have this same problem and sometimes it's quite the obstacle to overcome.
TL;DR: You can literally use anything as an excuse to approach someone. Mind = blown.
