So I have this cute single neighbor that I see when we are walking our dogs. Our relationship is real surface level, but we chit chat for a minute when we see each other and lately it has seemed like she’s gone out of her way to come talk to me.

So last week on my morning walk, I noticed she muted her phone call to come over and chat and she was smiling and laughing a bunch. So that evening I grew a wild hair and decided I would go knock on her door (don’t have her phone number at this point) and see if she wanted to walk to the bar down the block to see a jazz band that I was on my way to see.

The interaction seemed to go really well. I asked her to go and she was like “I would really love to but I booked a workout class in an hour” then two other times reiterated that she “seriously would normally love to do that another time”. So I got her number and she asked me to text her so she had mine as well.

So then I’m AMPED on my bold move paying off. I text her and say “have fun at your workout class and let’s grab a drink next week - my name”

Then

Crickets….

No response to that message. Now I am confused on how to play it. I know I put her on the spot by knocking on her door and I don’t want to not be able to take a hint.

How do you handle situations like this where there seems to be interest irl but she’s doesn’t respond when you text her?
