I recommend reading a book on cold reading and body language.
Now about that memory. Learn the method of loci or the memory palace. It has done wonders for my crappy memory.

Tell me about the memory stuff. Are you able to better remember things that you weren't trying to remember? Such as movie quotes? Or does it only help when you're like, "Okay, I've got to remember this"?

A well developed memory palace can help you remember almost anything. Learning the techniques has helped me remember names and phone numbers. It is one of the things that really helped me in seduction. I read a lot of books from time to time and it helps to have a place in your head to keep the important information. I will say after learning the technique, I do remember things that I am not trying to remember. I also use the technique sometime as a party trick.
