During my finals i literally lived in library for a month. There was a girl that i didn’t pay much attention for the first time i saw her. Days passed, i saw her couple more times i realised she is a real deal! Wanted to make a move. We made eye contacts couple times, have no mutual friends. She had 2 male friends there, couldn’t tell one of them was her bf or not. A week of observation, I concluded they weren’t her bf. While i was deciding my game plan, couple bad attempts passed (i aborted the mission at the last seconds), my finals ended. It was Thursday evening. Yet, i went to library again, alone, with my reading book. I was very motivated to make a move since the term is over, i didnt have to go library, there was huge holiday. I couldn’t decide my opening lines. I was also watching her timings. I saw her reaching her coat. I immediately took my jacket and book and went outside, waiting. I had absolutely no idea what to say.
This was not my normal. I haven’t done anything like this and im not a flirty guy. I’d rather be waiting for the one instead of talking with casual people. Its just the way i am. I think im an average guy with every way except my height (she was tall as well, lucky me).
While i was waiting i noticed my ankles were shaking a bit (and there was a freezing cold ofc). After 5 minutes she went outside. I was waiting on her path. I said pardon when she was right next to me. She turned to me. My brained exploded by doing simulations about my opening. You know what they say, honesty is the best policy. I said that i was seeing her couple days and that she pulled my attention. She smiled warmly (that helped with the shaking). I told her i wanted to meet and ask her name. She said her name, i said mine, i shake her hand. I asked her if she minds if i accompany her to her car or bus stop. It was a great 10-15 minutes of walk to bus stop. There were i think 2 awkward silence. One broken by me and one by her. Before she entered the bus, i asked her if she wants to share any social media account to get in touch later and got her IG.
We are messaging about 3 weeks now. Got her number. I got sick the first week so couldn’t ask for a coffee meeting. I was out of country during the second week. And in this third week, we planned 2 meetings that she canceled last hours. Shes replying really late %90 of the time but i think she seems interested in talking. I don’t know. Couple times she initiated conversation and asked how my day was.
The key points are; the day i met her. That day was her last day in library. She had a exam Friday evening. So if i couldn’t react, god knows when (if) i’d see her again. By her body language, even she had a bf or simply not interested in me she kinda liked my approach. Guys, rejection is all okay. Im trying to change my mindset for couple months. Gonna be honest, i know its not right to think like this but i felt like she was above my league and expecting a rejection but turned out ok. Actually great, we are talking even while im writing this.
Couple last words. Its better to get a rejection than regretting later. You cannot lose what’s not yours. There’s no guarantee in life so just do it, now.
Thank you to those who share their field reports in this reddit. It motivates a lot.
Thanks.
