I made a post of me and my girlfriend at the club in NYC where a dude tried to get his number to her using a hundred dollar bill and his number. A handful have asked for my own advice on how my relationship works. Anyways, this is how my open relationship works, its totally subjective, but it is NOT my first open relationship.
An open relationship to me, means no fucking labels. I don't label ANY girl I'm with. I establish the sexual presence and arousal we have, but I don't label it as if we fuck then you're my girlfriend, or i'm your boyfriend. I explicitly tell girls I'm all about good people and good vibes. Thats it. The more you label something, the more narrow and defined it becomes. For instance, marriages are labeled. You guys must live together, do everything together, can't have friends, must have kids, etc etc. Nah man thats not how it has to be. My friend who actually quit teaching has had a girlfriend for 21 years. They aren't married, they are ridiculously happy, and have a HUGE social circle. I get invited to the BBQ's and I meet hundreds of people. HUNDREDS.
So with my girlfriend I established an open relationship by always having a fun playful vibe, but having her know that I'm not tied to her. We go hang out, I bring my friends sometimes, she brings her, we socialize we have fun. BUT AT THE END OF THE NIGHT WE ARE GOING TO BE SLEEPING TOGETHER. Its just something that we have. Its something that is naturally born in our relationship. We set the tone of the relationship by agreeing that its okay to not do EVERYTHING together. I have my own social life, she has hers, but when we are together, we have the best of times.
I haven't had a girlfriend for 4 years. I'm currently 18, i've been with about 100 girls. And a good 80 of them i'm still good friends with. And sometimes when we meet up, we do hook up. Its just a kind of relationship we have. You have to set the tone man. You want yourself to display a fun, sexual, yet chill environment. " Hey we can fuck, but I won't be upset if we won't." Thats what I live by when I go out. Don't be dependent on an outcome for every relationship. I'm rambling I know, I'm extremely hyper right now. But this is all I got, set the tone of the relationship, show that you are all about the night, not about the future. Enjoy your fucking life guys and SEIZE THE DAY.
Someone asked what i like and dislike about it:
I like that we can have this kind of open, playful, sexual relationship. But I dislike how people view us. A couple once asked us how the hell we don't get jealous of seeing each other with other people at events and such. I think its because we know that at the end of the night, we can always still be "together" without worrying about the other person forgetting and leaving us. My girl told once " oh i went out with and to a club and we met a guy who reminded me of you" or she would send me texts when she goes shopping with people saying " bought you this, thought it would look great".
I love that kind of relationship, i can't explain it well but its pretty much we know each other, we care for each other, but when its time we can live without each other.
