I think your question is poorly worded because it's very confusing. It seems like you're describing two of the same things. I think in the early stages, people can benefit from goals because it inspires action. That being said, the goal should be low. If it's your first time going out after reading some material, the goal should not be a #-close or K-close. It should be something much simpler, like open three sets.

Anything beyond that, it's best just to go out with the mindset of having fun no matter what happens. The best nights I ever had out were nights that I decided before hand that I was having fun no matter what it took.

How does one be outcome independent? Take massive action over a long period of time, experience lots of success and failures, and then you'll give less fucks.

Your "identity" has to be grounded in things that have nothing to do with females. You feel good about yourself because you are good at your job, your hobbies, your skills. You have good friends, etc... When you feel true outcome independence picking up girls becomes a chore and the only reason you want to talk to them is to learn something.
