I think handshakes seem ok normally but I get what you’re saying about feeling odd when the objective is a romantic encounter. I think a handshake is really all you can do unless you’re European then you have an excuse to kiss them on the cheek lol

I feel like a hug can do no harm you’re meeting them for a date because it shows openness and friendliness. But if you’re just approaching them randomly, a smile seems good enough :)

Handshake first time hugs after. Male friends I do daps/handshakes when I see them. Women it's hugs
