I was good with girls in high school, but that feels like a lifetime ago. Fresh out of college now, last GF my high school sweetheart, HB8, went out for three years before she ended it my sophomore year of college. LDRs suck.
Anyway I've been out of the game for a while, but went out clubbing with some old friends tonight. Never been one for the club scene, but that's where we found ourselves. Didn't feel too comfortable in the club, it was like 80% black and I am not black.
Opened four sets. First set was "hey do you come here often? what's this crowd usually like," one girl said it's usually a lot younger but all the college kids (college town) were gone on spring break. Didn't really go anywhere with that, she wasn't giving me too much attention so I didn't transition into another conversation.
Second set, I just bought a drink and was heading back to where my shit was at a table, three girls were sitting there, one cute. Tried an opinion opener, "hey let me ask you something, my friend's been talking this one girl and they're good normally, but when they get to the club, she won't dance with him, what's up with that?" Cute girl said something that I don't remember, and I transitioned into talking about if they're from around here and where they usually go on Friday nights. But then a guy they knew came by and she said she owed him a dance and left. Other girls weren't attractive, so I bid them farewell.
Third set, same opinion opener. Three hot ass girls. HB9 told me maybe he can't dance, I said that's quite possible because I'd seen him on the dance floor, we had a laugh and talked about some other random shit. I left before long, and thirty seconds later I realized I missed a good transition because we were talking about dancing. They were by the bar, not the dance floor, so I feel like I could've gone with a "can you girls dance? why you all the way by the bar then? let's go, show me how it's done" or something like that. Didn't bump into them again.
Fourth set, two girls. Cute black girl and her grenade of a friend. Same opinion opener (yeah I'm real creative) and they said maybe he's got to buy her more drinks, get her tipsy. I said that isn't how we do things, we let the girls buy us drinks, had a good laugh. I left to go get another drink and returned to the dance floor, I motioned the cute girl over to me and we danced for a song or two. I told her she had to evaluate me, she laughed and agreed. Her grenade friend was being hit on by some sketchy dude so she pulled her friend away to go to the bar. My friends left shortly after so I didn't see her on the dance floor again, but we did bump into them at a restaurant half an hour later. She remembered me, we talked a bit by the fountain sodas, but I didn't close at all.
I had fun and I learned that I don't have much approach anxiety at all, so that's some progress. Still have to work on transitions and closing I suppose, but hopefully that'll come in time.
Edit: Oh shit I forgot to include [FR] in the title... next time.
