You think you got it bad? At my old school, we had hour and a half classes, and I had 3 classes with the same girl. Usually, what I find is the best time to open a conversation is(if your class does this) group work. Try to get into a group with her to get to know her a little better. And TAKE IT SLOW! And BE CAREFUL! Nothing is worse than being seem as needy or weird by a girl who you may have to possibly be in a group with fir the entire year. Really ruins future prospects.

My personal rule was to wait until the end of semester to ask a girl out. Introducing yourself, building rapport, getting their number, and even going for drinks isn't a bad idea mid semester if it's done non-threateningly (basically do it for the sake of friendship, but don't let yourself get friendzoned). You can be their friend during the semester, then attempt to take things further towards the end.

Asking a girl out in your class can create awkward situations, that's why it's best to wait until the end of semester. Plus as other replies state, you might have to work together.
