I met a woman at the mall today. I had to get some wave grease for my hair because you know I be getting them waves looking like a mothafucking whirlpool. But that’s besides the point. So I asked one of the cashiers if she knew where the hair product was. Whole time she was checking me out with her eyes and there was even a point where after I grabbed what I was looking for, she got really close to me.

At this point, I already knew what was going on but I just wasn’t used to attractive women checking me out like that. Especially with my Mom being there. I went to make the purchase when she asked, “Why are you shaking?” I tried to play it off like I was cold (I had a hoodie on so I thought it would be believable but I could feel the nervousness in my face so there was no point). Eventually, my Mom came up to the register and said, “You know, he’s single.”

This came to me as a surprise because the only reason why I didn’t act on getting her number was because my Mom was there and I wanted to give her, and only her, my undivided attention when she was present instead of chasing ass. The only way I would’ve been comfortable getting the number is if she wasn’t paying attention, which is why it surprised me that my Mom had my back on this.

At this point, I said fuck it, went to acquire the number and explained my reasoning why I didn’t ask before, hence the nervous shaking and all that. But I missed my opportunity. She hit me with the Secret Technique: I Have a Boyfriend, but I could tell that she really didn’t want to be with him. According to my Mom, she was trying to prevent appearing desperate in front of her gay friend, who happened to be a guy, and my Mom, a situation which I completely understood. I kept going for it, hoping she would break but she held her ground. Finally, I gave up after realizing that I missed my chance.

The lesson here is ALWAYS TAKE THE RISK, NO MATTER WHAT! Be it if friends are with you or your family is present, ALWAYS TAKE THE RISK. The biggest mistake I made here was that I broke my number three value which is to ALWAYS, ALWAYS, be forward and avoid wasting time. If I just went to my Mom about the situation and got her approval, the situation would’ve went a hell of a lot smoother. For example, I could’ve went to talk to my Mom about it, came back and this would’ve prevented her from interfering. Dare I mention that I could’ve stated that I was in that particular location for only a couple of weeks and that I only have time to do some adult things with her before I leave, which then could’ve proceeded to me acquiring her number.

Bottom line: STAY OUT OF YOUR FUCKING HEAD, MAN! Handle your business like the man that you are and get out! When you overthink, that’s when you sink! Stay strong my fellow men and heed this message. It will save you all the headache if you just shoot for the yes or no answer and remember that there will always be more chances, whatever the result. Avoid making the same mistake I made at all costs. God bless and keep anxiety’s neck under your boot every single day.
