Text game- should I avoid self deprecating jokes? This is my normal style but I worry it might come across as lacking in confidence, or as a DLV

For example, I asked a girl how excited she was out of 10 for our upcoming date, she said 'a solid 8' and I said 'shit thats too high, I need to get your expectations lower. What if I told you I like to shout insults at ants and throw rocks at other rocks in my spare time'.

She said 'don't be so hard on yourself'! Ie she did not get the joke at all.
