u need to figure out your personal definition of success, its different for everyone. if your version of success is to be better than everyone else, then u will have a very unhappy life, because there is always going to be someone more successful than you. u have to focus on the internal, the within (personal happiness, contentment, self esteem). and not focus on the external, the with-out (cars, houses women).

Realize no one is You and ins in your life circumstances, SO NEVER COMPARE YOURSELF.

See that 20 year old over there? He's a Youtube sensation that makes 100k a year? SHOULD YOU FEEL BAD? NO.

Why: Because his mom and dad are DOCTORS and Make a combined 600k a year and he's been spoon-fed all his life.

His 100k? He's and ABSOLUTE Failure and JOKE to his family!

That other kid making 200k at 20?

His mom died when he was 7

His father left him on the freeway at 9.

He lived in the gutter, taught himself how to read and count, ate out of trashcans, found a book called marty's internet marketing. He used that book as a pillow and read it in the rain every night until it disintegrated.

10 years later. he's the man.

DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF!

This is why you don't compare yourself.

SURE, you may SEE yourself as LAZY or not as WELL OFF or TOGETHER,

But did you have the Teaching, Life lessons, or support SYSTEM to get there?

Struggled with this. Understand that always someone at your age will be more successful than you. Always you will find someone who is getting rich faster than you. Getting more girls than you. It is normal.

I changed my focus. I focused myself, not other people. Because I've realized that I can't change their successes and lives.

It depends. Does being more financially successful than your peers give you true happiness?

For me, I'm enjoying life very much by living frugally. The only things I purchase for myself are drugs(weed, alcohol, occasional LSD/Mushrooms), books and a new video game every now and then.

I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life. I spend most of my time reading and gaming. I have been looking into getting a guitar, though.

I don't think it's possible to completely shut off the urge to compete . Competition is an innate trait that human males exhibit. It's how we got to where we are as a society(that's a double-edged sword).

There's always going to be someone who's more financially successful than you. Sometimes, those guys are total asswipes. Look at Jake Paul, for example. Shitty YouTuber/Viner with a seemingly vain personality. Guy's a multi-millionaire now because 12 year old girls eat his content up like candy.

Try not to stress out too much about where others are in their lives. Just do your best to focus on yourself and maximize your own happiness.

I agree with u/slyn69's comment in this thread. You likely won't live a very happy life if you're spending the entirety of it competing with others for material gains. I won't tell you how to live your life, but I wouldn't recommend only material means for happiness. Sure, material things CAN make you happy. I'd be a hypocrite if I claimed they didn't, since I just mentioned above how I enjoy using certain substances and playing video games. However, don't make that your only source of happiness.

Remember that in the end, you're just a self-aware organism that resides on a singular planet, orbiting a singular star that is one of 300 billion in this galaxy alone. Enjoy the time you have to experience this.
