I was raised in a typical household, with all your typical things said by parents in regards to a relationship: treat the girl well, women are always right, etc. and when I first went into the dating world I assumed that the majority of women would be decent people, because that what we’re led to believe. But when I faced the reality of giving your heart and soul to someone only to just have it thrown back at you, my eyes opened up and realized nothing is ever going to change unless WE take action and tell the ones who are close to us the reality of this world. My little brother is 14, just starting to get into high school and I will make sure he has the tools needed to navigate life, tools my parents never gave me, and make sure he never, ever has to go through what I did. For those of you out there who have siblings, cousins, relatives close to you, please start the conversation before it is too late.
