Good job for giving the purchase a second thought. I know a guy who is stuck with a car he doesn't want, paying a big lease every month because he signed for this lady's car. His "wife" left him with $30,000 dollars of debt after the break up. To boot, he moved here from Scotland and can't even get a Canadian drivers license for a few months. Expensive lawn ornament. It depends on your funds. A few dollars don't mean anything to me if I can guarantee a lay from it. Even then if I fail, a few dollars don't matter.
How I determine on paying or not depends on the whole situation. What type of girl does she seem to be? How much money does she seem to have? Do I feel like running A-level game tonight? How bad do I want to go see this movie, knowing she doesn't have any money? Etc...
Just don't expect to get laid just because you spent money. You may end up being an orbiter.

I'm gonna go against what others are saying. I think if you invite a girl out for coffee, a drink, or ice cream you should pay. If you ask her to slpit a $7.50 bill for coffee, you're going to look either poor, or cheap as fuck, neither of which are very sexy traits.
I'm not saying you should take her out for surf and turf, but for the small stuff I don't even worry about it. Just don't let them take advantage of it is all.

My new rule is that the woman must pay for the first date. Too many women are using guys for free dinners. If a woman is truly into you, she'll pony up the cash. A lot of women will waste your time and take multiple dinners and trips to the bar without ever planning on having sex. See her reaction to her spending her cash on you. Women are notoriously frugal when it comes from spending their own money on a man. If you can't get a date with a woman willing to pay your way better reason to go monk mode imo.

Yeah, that's what old married couples do on the last Sunday of every month. If I do happen to go out to eat, they can spend their money on a fucking taxi home if I have to pay for their meal.
Works for me. Sure. They make think they're going to get an LTR out of me, but they get too caught up in the chase, that I've gotten what I want and they get the boot once I get bored or aggravated.
Just never spend more than you're willing to lose.
