Makes sense to conflate the 2 concepts. Hypergamy is really a good way to describe the progression of requirements that women have upon men in LTRs. I would even go further to say that horizontal hypergamy is the desire for the best possible mate she can reasonably get while vertical hypergamy is the best possible outcome she can net from that mate. In that sense, divorce is always better for the dependents as they suffer no societal consequences for doing so and have the opportunity to exercise horizontal hypergamy all over again, while being subsidized by their previous relationships.

In the video comments there is a comment chain that explains young women in college today do not find provider males or even date them. They're mostly concerned with looks, to which Marcus describes them being subsidized and provided safety net by parents/community so they have little reason to seek those traits out in a mate until they have to endure the hardships of life. I think that is a good example to what's happening on a larger scale, where the State procures a resourceful safety net for women and so even when they seek out the provider male settling option they still have a fallback plan. Using the college girl demeanor we can show how this mindset creates an entitlement and leaves little incentive for women to restrain their vertical hypergamy.

"Pressure exerted by the woman upon the man" -- If you (the man) give in to all these demands and expectations, then your frame sucks. But nowhere in the video does he indicate that you have the option to resist her expectations and remain in the relationship. It is either give in to her, or go MGTOW.

It is incorrect to state that the "pipeline" is "hypergamous in nature" just because the woman expects (or gets) more stuff the further down the "pipeline" they go. That's not what hypergamy is.

Divorce is not like killing the goose that laid the golden eggs. She does not want to kill the goose! What she is doing is trading in the old goose for a new goose, but making sure the eggs from the old goose keep coming.
