Hi. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been learning and experimenting with game and one question has been bothering me lately:

Is it okay to ask a girl if she's seeing anyone/ask what her relationship status is?

Some schools of thought say that this is needy, like you're prying into her business.

Personally, I feel it's a good question to ask for a few reasons:

1) It can help move things along with a girl you might be stagnating with. Why waste your time with ambiguity and conversations that lead nowhere? I like being direct in general.

2) You can avoid getting involved with girls that are taken. Not sure about the rest of you, but this isn't my bag.

Anyway, what do you all think?
