How different is it really - I mean really, how different could it possibly be from the "dating culture" of the mid 20th century to now?
The statistics claim the past generations had more sex on average, yet they were also marrying and staying married at higher rates...
And now if a guy offers to buy dinner for a gal he's got a crush on he automatically becomes some kind of social pariah! Even in the ultra-conservative area like my hometown, and of course the more metropolitan areas that are typically more "liberal" (whatever the hell that means anymore) the "dating" part of "dating" is moot. Meaningless. Merely "friendly."
Well all that's fine and dandy but why, good golly, why do we all flock to the hipster-trendy television programming (and now webstreaming) in an attempt to create a drama out of nothing?
Surely, there are many r/niceguys examples that maybe scare off women from taking "traditional" dinner dates. Personally, I've always wanted to do that type of thing and I don't understand why so many women are readily sacrificing their happiness to live like a bum! Nobody said life would be easy - and I want to change, yet I'm lacking ideas.
I need ideas, here, guys and girls. Ideas. What are fun dating ideas to ask for first dates? What are people doing together that makes for a lasting couple? What are some good ways to communicate that a lasting relationship is a serious goal without making things "awkward" or coming off as desparate? Is that something to talk about right away or else how long would a person wait? And how would a person ever really know?
I feel like the baby boomers were too lucky, and could probably date around casually without the girls shitposting on facebook throught the date and stalking/judging every detail about the guy based on the facebook. After the baby boomers got married, the next generation came up trying to emulate the baby boomers and lots probably got married for the wrong reasons bringing the divorce rate up and up until now - couples basically get a 50/50 shot at lasting marriage and there is no longer any appeal to simply "eating food together" because why pay more for restaurant food when Ramen is 70 cents a pack eat it dry!
And eating McDonalds by yourself - you don't even have to get out of your car! No awkward table manners required! No fear of being seen as a gold digger or stingy asshole by all the poor broke-ass friends ya got! Not that anybody honestly believes or expects that buying a dinner is a de-facto sex contract. Or wait, that isn't "kinky" enough?
This culture is so fucked - I'm pretty happy myself, but without any women or ladies or sluts in my life - no clue on how to manage my expectations when every goddamn turn of the game seems like a Catch-22TM because - and please correct me if I'm wrong - it's all because young women are failing horribly at taking responsibilty, building accountability, and honoring the truth; probably due to all the pity-pandering and whore-mongering that comes out of Hollywood.
It's like women see evidence of abuse as proof that abuse is a perfectly acceptable and tolerable way of living: everything from "hashtag metoo" to "50 Shades of Gay." It's all clusterfucked in my mind. Not beyond repair, but a massively risky investment with continually diminishing (non-existent?) returns.
Still want to bash me for asking about sex after a perfectly boring and lustful dinner date? Guess I might die alone if it's so important to sell short on moral value in hopes of finding a primal urge with the next rando at the bar... Because, it's all about feelings, right?
