Just wanted to share my stories of the two last days. TL;DR: after ending my 4 year relationship, i am back in the game. Feeling a Little bit rusty, but optimistic

The Main-reason I want to share these Stories is, that I want to share my „failures“ so that others don’t do the same mistakes (and just maybe to get some feedback / rips ;). Alittle spoiler first: I missed the right entry point for both stories to ask for the number.

Let‘s begin with the 1st story: I went to the local department stores' because I needed a new pair of trousers. As I was browsing through the men's department, I saw two sales assistants. One male and one female. So I thought I'd just go and see which of the two would be willing to advise me. When I approached the two sales assistants, the sweet lady immediately agreed to advise me. After some small talk about clothes, a few compliments with physical contact (e.g. when she mentioned her personal clothing style, I took her by the hand, turned her round and confirmed her style via push & pull). We got on very well and laughed a lot. When I tried on one of her recommended trousers in combination with a jumper, she said ‘wow, that looks really good on you! And the colour of the jumper matches your deep eyes perfectly. The only thing missing is the coffee’. To which I replied, ‘Coffee? I think a glass of red wine in front of a campfire would go better with that’. ‘Oh yes, that would be it now...’ she replied as she played with her hair, smiled at me and looked deep into my eyes... But what was I doing at that moment? Exactly, I nodded, went into the changing room and changed again... Mission failed ☠️ When I got home, I realised what I was doing and immediately thought about how I should have continued the conversation...

Next story (today): When I took a little break on my own during my lecture today, I saw a pretty girl standing at the door, holding it open with one leg. I greeted her, walked past and stood two or three metres away from her. When I realised that she wasn't waiting for anyone, I said to her ‘Nice of you to hold the door open, but I've got a card with me. I can let you in’. She replied with ‘Really? Wow, very nice’ and started a conversation. We chatted briefly about our studies, what semester we were in and said goodbye shortly afterwards. As luck would have it, we bumped into each other again three hours later. I was on my way to buy my Iqos, she was on her way to smoke. When I saw her I asked ‘You again’ and she responded with ‘Yes, it's me again haha’. Anyways, she was smoking with her fellow students and I joined her. While they were chatting, I enjoyed my time to myself and let my mind wander. When her fellow students had gone, she had another smoke and started another conversation. We chatted about God and the world, and she showed me her lecture theatre, for example. Over time, I built up the frame ‘Let's stop smoking together’ and she immediately jumped on it. However, I got a bit needy and greedy from that moment on (for whatever reason?!). So we made a promise to stop tomorrow and sealed it with the word ‘deal’. But what did I do? Instead of saying ‘deal’, I dropped my name and we stared at each other in confusion. After a short pause, she asked me ‘okay, how do you manage to stop smoking?’ Unfortunately, I didn't have a suitable answer ready at that moment because I was so brain-afk. So I replied with ‘good question, just try it and find out why’. (Unfortunately, it only occurred to me later that I should have said ‘and a buddy with whom you regularly discuss your successes/failures’. Which would have indirectly implied give me the fckn number!) anyways. Anyway, I thought to myself at that moment, I'll sort out the number. On the way in, we chatted a bit and I asked her for her number. She replied ‘You have to earn my number. But I can give you my Instagram’. Although I don't have an IG app on my mobile phone, I opened my browser like a simp, went to IG and sent her a FOLLOW request. (Of course, my search history was full of women I know personally) The end of the story? Now almost 9 hours have passed and the request has not been accepted (no wonder lol)

How do you deal with the statement ‘You have to earn my number’? How would you react or continue if you were me? Withdraw the request and accept it or leave it and talk to her normally when you see her as if nothing had happened?
