We’ve all seen puppies used to pick up girls but getting my first dog made me realize how clueless I was at doing so. Therefore I’m writing this article to my former self a year ago, who’s dating life could’ve been enhanced from the tips I’m about to share.

As a side note: I’m highly against any form of animal cruelty. Pets are family. I don’t advocate you buy a pet purely for this purpose, but if you’re in a situation where you own one or already getting one, it may be something to consider to use as leverage.

Girls will open you

The majority of people who have walked a dog have experienced people trying to talk to them about their puppy. My experience is that 9 out of 10 of the people stopping to talk to me are girls. (Usually they ask for my permission to pet the dog).

While the puppy may be cute, having the puppy demonstrates to girls fatherly traits (If he can take care of another living creature, he is loving, providing and a nurturer). Because I get opened frequently during walks (3-5 times per walk), it is easy to number or Instagram close because of how much they are willing to invest.

Pet Instagram = Preselection

I highly recommend an Instagram account for your pet because it’s a great way to retain leads. I’ve never failed to ask someone likes my dog for a follow on his Instagram (Because what kind of person wouldn’t?). From here it’s important as to what you post, which also works for pets that aren’t dogs.

The best pictures to post is the pet with girls. With a dog it’s easy because you could ask the girls opening you if they want to be featured on the page. If the pet is not a dog that you can’t take out regularly then you could ask your friends to be in the pictures. I was surprised that the pet Instagram account created preselection because everyone knows I was running the page so it was an extension from myself. In addition, it gets girls chasing for your validation because only the ones you find attractive are featured, and you get to pick who gets featured or not.

Using the pet for pulling & closing

For pulling back to my place, if I was at a party I would say that I need to feed my dog and that she should come with me. If it were a regular date, I would mention that I have a dog which would cause her begging to meet the pet during the date.

As for closing, for some odd reason my dog barks when people exhibit PDA behavior (kissing, hugging, etc) so I usually use this as a joke and sexual escalator. I’d kiss her to show her how my dog likes to bark at kissing but I’ve closed at this point. It does get annoying because he would continue to bark for an hour straight while I have sex in the bedroom. If your dog/cat/fish does not bark, you could just say that it does and just kiss her. I can’t see why it wouldn’t work.
