The Perversion of ¡$c!əNcε!

“The conversion of college campuses into the least socially and intellectually free places in the country is complete.

You’ll get more diversity of thought at a rural Wyoming bar, and I’m absolutely serious.

I don’t like going to campuses anymore.”

Kirn is right.  But it’s more than just professors and college campuses.  The whole scientific community has gone @ss up.

Lest you think this is merely cronyism, intellectual laziness, and posture preening of the grassroots variety, speaking as a professor myself, I can say, no, it is institutional.

I’ve long suspected that authors and researchers who do not belly flop onto the bandwagon of promulgating various Post-Modern narratives are being subtly excluded and/or shaded.  Occasionally, I’ll come across real evidence for this.  Here are some that I’ve collected over the past few years.

Case Study 1: Publisher Policies

On 2021/8/26, Elsevier, one of the largest worldwide publishers of scientific research studies, sent out this email.

Inclusion & Diversity in scientific publishing: why it’s a requirement, not a choice

Inclusion and diversity play pivotal roles in advancement of science and lead to more impactful research findings. However, bottlenecks and barriers stand in the way of reaping that benefit. There are still significant challenges to integrate the inclusion, equity, and diversity in research.

Obviously, this tripe is being offered as a sales pitch for persons of interest to join the in-group in control.  People who sign up for the ‘module’ gain the chance to meet and hob knob with the VIP policy-making snookers who will only “Include” those who buy into their “Inclusion” mantra and learn the shibboleths.  The underlying message is, “Join ‘US’ or else be tossed out of ‘OUR’ publishing process and be relegated to observer status.”

See now? Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity in scientific publishing IS a requirement, NOT a choice!

Did you get that? If your research work and writings don’t support The Narrative™, you’re OUT! Never mind that a lot of research findings undermine The Narrative™.

And this is Elsevier, mind you; one of the largest worldwide publishers of scientific research studies!

The hypocrisy is astounding, and completely violates ye olde standard scientific principles against research bias.

You might be asking, “Who would ever bite that bad bait?”

There are many who would.  A lot.  Most even.

You see, the resultant pressure on the kindergarden variety professor / researcher is capable of changing his career climate, as many educational institutions require them to publish in order to receive contracts and grants, retain their seats, and/or gain tenure.  As it is said in this profession, “Publish or Perish”.

Case Study 2: Dr. Patrick Brown

The most obvious case of bias and corruption in the publishing industry is the shocking confession of a scientist who deliberately finagled his data in order to get it accepted for publishing.

Dr. Patrick Brown is an Adjunct Lecturer at the Johns Hopkins Energy Policy and Climate Program, and the Head of Climate Analytics.

I believe Dr. Brown’s incident is NOT uncommon, but it is a unique situation in which it was more advantageous to his professional reputation as a credible scientist to admit the implicating reasons for his deception.

Case Study 3: Dr. James L. Nuzzo

Prof. James L. Nuzzo, an adjunct professor at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, was recently canceled because of his adversarial stances on Feminism and DEI, as he recounted in The Nuzzo Letter: My Academic Cancellation Story (2025/9/15).

In response to this event, Stephen Baskerville wrote,

“Important story, but only scratches the surface. Cancelling machinery is now very repressive. Far greater numbers are cancelled in secret. Many are coerced into signing “non-disparagement” (not just “non-disclosure”) agreements, opening them to expropriation for any criticism of the institution — even if 100% accurate. Worse, universities can confiscate property of dissident or critical professors and even incarcerate them. Mandatory arbitration firms can issue gag and restraining orders with mandatory prison sentences (pioneered in family law).”

Case Study 4: Dr. Marty Rowland

Then there’s the grand debacle of editors themselves being kicked out of their seats of power for not conforming to the Master Plan.  Cue Dr. Marty Rowland’s expulsion. Rowland is an environmental engineer and a lecturer at the Henry George School of Social Science in New York City.

“Marty Rowland is no longer a special editor at the American Journal of Economics and Sociology after he published a paper challenging mainstream climate change narratives.

The paper, titled ‘Carbon dioxide and a warming climate are not problems,’ faced immediate calls for retraction, its authors told The College Fix.

Scholars expressed concerns about a trend of censorship and retaliation against researchers who question prevailing climate science, asserting that dissenting opinions are increasingly marginalized.”

The American Journal of Economics and Sociology is published by Wiley, another worldwide publisher of scientific research.  Are there any major publishers that aren’t converged?

Case Study 5: The Atomization of the Scientific Publishing Industry

Because of the extensive prevalence of this obvious bias in scientific research and the publication industry, top to bottom, and the resultant severe difficulty in publishing papers that do not align with the Fake Preferred Narratives, there is now a large sub-industry comprised of hundreds of shady publishers who will publish literally anything you send to them on a pay-per-page basis. These publication costs range from $200 to $6,000 per paper, largely determined by their reputation as a publisher.  These publishers do offer a peer review system, as it is essentially required for ¡$c!əN+!f!c! legitimacy, but the validity of the peer review process is often compromised in favor of revenue.

The worst effect of these pay-per-paper publishers is that they flood the literature with thousands of scientifically suspect or even fake research papers, as well as very badly written English expositions — all leading to the shameful degradation of the scientific publication industry as a whole.

Nevertheless, professors and researchers desperate to retain their grants and seats willingly pay these costs just to have one more paper on their resumes, to shore up their careers, and to bypass the established ¡$c!əN+!f!c! publishers who are literally W0ke beyond reason.
